Maguey barril is referring to an Agave karwinskii that can take between 15-20 years to mature. It is more commonly represented in mezcal by the Maguey madre-cuishe or cuishe. Maguey barril grows in tall barrel-like stalks that can be used as a living fence to protect other agriculture.
