D'Arenberg reds are rarely shy wines, but this is a particularly massive wine. The aromatics are reminiscent of sour cherry, potpourri and cigar box with a prominent herbal, woodsy note. The palate is dominated by raspy, powerful tannins and a dusty oak character. The tobacco and herb notes are even stronger here, wrestling the fruit almost to oblivion. There's some heat from the alcohol too.Â
